Warroad graduate Brock Nelson has signed an entry-level contract with the New York Islanders, the team announced on Tuesday.
Nelson, 20, scored a team-leading 28 goals for the University of North Dakota this past season as a sophomore. He also led the team with 47 points in 42 games. He ranked third in the NCAA in goals this season.
Nelson was a first-round pick in 2010 at No. 30 overall and more than doubled his 21-point total as a freshman in Grand Forks.

Nelson scored 73 points in 25 games his senior season at Warroad, when he was a Mr. Hockey finalist.
