Youds Signs Professional Contract with AHL Team

Former Minnesota State defenseman Ben Youds has signed a professional contract with Rockford (Ill.) of the American Hockey League. The IceHogs, affiliated with Chicago of the NHL, said Youds inked a one-year deal with the organization. Youds, who served as an alternate captain with the Mavericks in 2010-11, completed his senior season ranking fourth on the team in scoring with 7-14--21. The Maple Grove, Minn., native totalled 11-56--67 in 145 career games with 77 penalties for 184 PIMs. His 67 career points rank 11th all-time on MSU’s career scoring by defensemen list. Youds, who led the Mavericks in scoring as a junior, was a four-year letterman and a three-time WCHA All-Academic pick.
